Redditards

It might be obvious to everyone, but as far as I can tell nobody has said it *overtly*.  It's interesting to me because it's another one of those cases where the branding is the exact opposite of what's actually going on.

I think the current political backlash against the left is due to the fact that the fedora atheists and woke / Reddit types of the 2000s and 2010s were not-- contrary to all of their propaganda-- really about rationalistic discourse and free-thinking, liberating the masses from their religious oppressors, ushering in a new age of enlightenment, and so on and so forth. Rather they were a group of crusaders who were out to introduce an even higher level of conformity and group-worship to the culture, one where even implying that you have a slightly different opinion on the hot topic du jour gets you witch-hunted, mocked, banned, and so on, all by a viciously intolerant mob.

They were really wannabe commissars and witch-hunters, just the left-wing version instead of the right-wing version.

And in their actual behavior they were the opposite of an open-minded person, let alone a free thinker or iconoclast or great scientist or whoever else-- insecure retards who can only develop an opinion as part of some kind of echo-chamber.

The end result of putting these morons in charge of The Science was the COVID fiasco, where everyone saw that the authorities were not only clueless and incompetent, unaware of basic facts, and incapable of coming up with real scientific solutions, but on top of that had a seething disdain and contempt for the people they were supposed to be in charge of.

  1. The situation is so awful that you're not even really allowed to disagree with people on Reddit or most social media forums, except over minor trivial innocuous things that aren't contaminated by being associated with political issues. And even in those areas, you have to be careful.

If you wanted to criticize Biden, for example, you couldn't say, 'People are angry over inflation' let alone 'That senile retard is really fucking up the whole economy for everybody'.

Instead it was more like, 'E-e-excuse you me guys, I'm not one of those Trump supporters or fascists or anything like that, please don't kill me, and obviously I think Biden has been realllyyy wonderful these past four years. However I just kinda sorta wanted to like notice that maybe this inflation thing has gotten a little outta hand? Maybe just a teeny bit, I mean it's not bad, I actually barely notice it hehe. I'm not one of those fascists or anything like that you know, one of those people who has a bad take on economics, so again please don't ban me for noticing basic reality. I'm just saying that cause I think it might kind of affect his chances in the general election, which he otherwise is definitely going to win, no contest.'

Just an insane level of conformity, where you couldn't even acknowledge the obvious reality without endless apologies for being a sinner and prostrating yourself before the mob.

And after all that, they went on to fail pathetically. Wacko suicide cult behavior, the exact opposite of 'evidence-based', 'scientific', etc.

  2. Another habit of theirs (more of a Tumblr thing, but still appropriate, and common on social media) is endlessly jerking themselves off about how empathetic, wonderful, tolerant, accepting, just great FUCKING human beings they are, etc etc etc.

The events they choose to base that assessment of themselves on are always either so far back in the past, or are taking place so far away from America (or wherever they live) that they require no tangible commitment or actual effort in the present, other than passively scrolling on social media.

It's a form of min-maxxing your self-esteem: off-shore the good deeds (the difficult part) to some period far removed from the present, the further away in space and time the better of course, and then max out your virtue and empathy points by making these abstract, intangible, and ultimately irrelevant causes central to your identity.

Then you can go on to behave like a total psycho towards your own real-world, here-and-now, neighbors, family, friends, and so on, or indulge in as much degeneracy as possible, or just be a self-absorbed egoist, all while congratulating for how virtuous and righteous and wonderful you are.

  3. Years and years of that process accelerating with zero backlash, and the end result is that our society is filled with anti-social freaks, who make for terrible neighbors, family members, friends, and so on, but-- unlike the average slacker or bum-- they also have an intense drive to ruin everything for everyone else, in the name of morality. Sick.
